GUJRAT: In an apparent incident of target killing on sectarian grounds, unknown gunmen shot dead a Gujrat University professor and his driver in Gujrat town of Punjab province Tuesday morning, police and university officials said. It looks a case of sectarian target killing as Mr. Shah was a popular Shia personality of Gujrat.

Professor Syed Shabbir Shah, who was also serving as director SSC University of Gujrat, and his driver were on their way to the university when unknown armed men on two motorbikes intercepted their vehicle on Jalalpur road and opened fire on them.


Resultantly, the professor and his driver Khadim Hussain died on the spot.
