ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ambassador of the Netherlands Henny de Vries met with the Federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Tuesday and discussed issues of mutual interest including bilateral cooperation.

In the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on increasing cooperation between Pakistan and the Netherlands in different sectors.

They emphasized the need to improve the bilateral cooperation to prevent human trafficking.

The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with the Netherlands, and wants to further expand these ties in various fields.

The interior minister stressed that there is a need to increase the bilateral cooperation between the two Countries to stop human trafficking. He noted that human smugglers are a big mafia and no Country can cope with them alone.

“Only collective action can be effective against human trafficking,” he emphasized.

It was agreed that the Italian team will visit Pakistan soon as part of efforts to forging closer cooperation against human trafficking.

In the meeting, it was also agreed to increase the cooperation for the welfare of Afghan refugees. It was told that Pakistan has been hosting Afghan refugees for decades.

Moreover, it was also agreed to increase cricket ties between Pakistan and the Netherlands.

Mohsin Naqvi said that they are developing a plan to promote cricket with the Netherlands.

Congratulating Mohsin Naqvi on his nomination for the post of President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the Dutch ambassador said that promotion of cooperation in various fields including sports is of utmost importance.

Ambassador Henny de Vries said that by promoting cooperation in cricket, the Netherlands team will get an opportunity to learn from the experience of Pakistan.

The Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha and Additional Home Secretary Rifat Mukhtar Raja were also present on the occasion.
