ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: While condemning the killing of a Civilian by Indian forces in the Khuiratta Sector on February 07, Pakistan on Wednesday urged India investigate the incidents of ceasefire violations.

In a press release issued in Islamabad, the Foreign Office said that the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh was summoned by the Director General (South Asia & SAARC) Dr. Muhammad Faisal to condemn the unprovoked ceasefire violation in the Khuiratta Sector on Tuesday (February 07, 2017).

On Tuesday, 25-year old Ashfaq was martyred as a result of Cross Border Firing by the Indian forces in the Khuiratta Sector across the Line of Control (LoC).

The Foreign Office said that Ashfaq was working as a labourer for the construction of a house.

The Foreign Office said that the director general deplored the deliberate targeting of civilians which is a crime as well as violation of international human rights and humanitarian laws.

The director general “urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in the letter and spirit, stop targeting the villages and civilians and maintain peace on the LoC,” said the Foreign Office.
