ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Wednesday brushed aside media reports mentioning the Foreign Secretary-level meeting between Pakistan and India on the sidelines of Kabul Conference.

“Reports in this regard are false,” said the Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal while briefing media in Islamabad as per the weekly routine.

Earlier media reports said that Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and her Indian Counterpart Vijay Gokhale will meet in Kabul.

The second Kabul Process Conference is being held in Kabul on Wednesday (today) in which representatives from 25 Countries and Organizations including United Nations, European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are participating.

The Kabul Conference is aimed at to discuss security and political issues in the war-torn Country including supporting an Afghan-led peace process; formation of a regional and international consensus to maintain peace and stability in Afghanistan; and attracting the cooperation of the regional Countries and the World to pressurize Pakistan and gain their support in military policies in case the Taliban fail to join the peace process.

Dr Faisal also reiterated Pakistan’s stance that dialogue was the only solution of Afghan issue. He said military action had failed to resolve the Afghan issue.
