ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Cabinet has approved the procurement of the COVID-19 vaccine to protect human lives on a timely and emergency basis.

In the meeting held in Islamabad on Tuesday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chairman, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan briefed the Cabinet on the recent situation of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Cabinet also approved the appointment of the Chairman of the Pakistan Expo Centres Private Limited.

It also approved the setting up of an Inspection Committee to improve the quality of the Country’s exports of the Fisheries Sector.

The Inspection Committee – comprising of representatives from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Pakistan Fisheries Exporters Association – will be responsible for the inspection of fish processing plants in the Country.

Likewise, the Cabinet accorded approval to the appointment of Members of the Press Council of Pakistan.

The Federal Cabinet accepted the resignation tendered by Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar as the Chief Executrix Officer (CEO) of the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB), and approved the establishment of a Selection Committee to appoint the new CEO.

The Managing Director Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) will oversee the organization till the appointment of the new CEO AEDB.

In addition, the Cabinet also approved the setting up of a Special Committee to decide appeals under Section 21 of Trade Organizations Act 2013. The Committee will be authorized only until amendments to the relevant law are completed.

The Federal Cabinet also offered Fateha for departed souls of martyred labourers of Machh incident, 21-year-old Osama Satti who died of police firing in Islamabad, and martyrs of the armed forces.

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed held a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan and briefed him about his visit to Quetta which he undertook on the special instructions of the latter and met the Hazara Community.
