ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that war against terrorism and violent extremism is a main component of our national policy aimed at bringing peace and security in the country.

In his address at a meeting to review progress on National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism in Islamabad on Tuesday, the prime minister said that the nation pins hope to steer the society out from these evils once and for all and government is committed to overcome this menace.

He said consensus on National Action Plan was emerged after brain-storming discussion among all the stakeholders.

The meeting expressed unwavering resolve of the nation and commended the countless sacrifices rendered by the Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies resulting the improvement in law and order situation throughout the country.

The meeting urged the need for coordinating efforts between Federal and Provincial Governments for achieving desired results.

It was agreed that further improvement in intelligence input is required to defeat designs of enemies.

The meeting agreed on the future course of National Action Plan to achieve the desired results.

The participants also lauded the work of federal and provincial intelligence agencies which have enabled the Security forces to foil various attempts of terrorists and vowed to provide them an enabling environment for implementation of NAP within the ambit of law.

Earlier, National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua Nasser Khan Janjua briefed the meeting about progress on National Action Plan.

The meeting was attended by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif; CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak, CM Balochistan Mir Sana Ullah Khan Zehri and CM Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman.

It was also attended by Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, NSA Lt General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, DG ISI Lt General Rizwan Akhtar, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, DG IB, Aftab Sultan, SPM Fawad Hasan Fawad, DG MO Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and DG MI Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj.
