ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The new Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aybek Arif Usmanov met the Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in Islamabad on Monday.
Talking to the Uzbek ambassador, the minister emphasized the need to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
The interior minister said that the Uzbek citizens will now also be given a five-day transit visa.
The Uzbek Ambassador Aybek Arif Usmanov said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight between Lahore and Tashkent stands restored from July 2, adding that this will help promote tourism and trade between the two Countries.
Both sides also agreed to strengthen coordination between their law enforcement agencies.

Earlier on July 2, the inaugural round of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) was held today in virtual mode.
In the talks, the two sides exchanged views on the whole gamut of Pakistan-Uzbekistan bilateral relations including political, economic and trade, culture, people-to-people exchanges, regional connectivity, defence and security, and regional as well as global issues.
Separately, talking to the outgoing Azerbaijani Ambassador Ali Alizada in Islamabad on July 2, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Pakistan highly values its close brotherly ties with Azerbaijan, and hoped that bilateral relations would be further strengthened including through regular high-level exchanges.
