KARACHI: The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday signed a summary to extend stay of Rangers in Sindh by one year and special powers by 90 days in the Provincial Capital.
Murad Ali Shah singed the summary after making consultation with the new Sindh Cabinet ministers.
The development came hours after nine-member Sindh Cabinet which included Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sohail Anwar Sial, Jam Khan Shoro, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Shamim Mumtaz, Jam Mehtab, Sardar Ali Shah and Sikandar Mandhro was sworn in.
Earlier talking to a private news channel, the Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said that it was imperative to further extend special power of Rangers in Karachi for indefinite period to complete eradicate target killers, terrorism and extortion.
“Now people of Karachi were living in a peaceful environment as compare to past,” he said.
Rana Tanveer said that Karachi operation would continue till complete restoration of peace in the city but however, the peace had been improved there due to operation. He said that Karachi operation was launched with consensus of all political parties to purge the city from criminals.
