PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A meeting of all the parliamentary parties convened by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is being held on Wednesday, aiming at discussing the issue of terrorism and forging a renewed commitment to fight terrorists and extremists.
The meeting is being held at the Governor House in Peshawar.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is also attending the meeting along with leaders of other political parties.
The prime minister convened the meeting following a deadly terrorist attack on an army public school in Peshawar on Tuesday in which more than 140 people mostly students were martyred.
The meeting will discuss ways to form a strategy to stop terrorist activities and flush out all terrorists from the country. It will also review measures to beef up security for all important buildings, education institutions and to protect life and property of the people.
In a statement, the prime minister pledged to continue the war on terror till elimination of all terrorists. He said that there should be no doubt about resolve of the government to curb the menace of terrorism.
The prime minister said that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb being conducted against various militant outfits in the restive North Waziristan tribal region has entered into a decisive phase achieving major successes against terrorists.
Sharif said that the operation would be completed with the support of people.
The Army Chief General Raheel Sharif vowed that the terrorists would be chased everywhere till elimination of a last terrorist. He said that the operation against terrorists and their accomplices will continue for complete peace and security in the country.
