Pakistan to welcome India's positive role in Afghanistan: Foreign secretary

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The secretary foreign affairs Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry has said that Pakistan will welcome India’s positive role in Afghanistan for peace and stability in the region.

Earlier, the US President Barack Obama who recently paid a three-day visit to India told a joint news conference with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday that the US saw New Delhi as a trustworthy partner in Afghanistan.

“We should also cooperate with each other in a way that no country’s concerns could arise,” Obama was quoted as saying by media in reference to the Indian cooperation in war-torn Afghanistan.

Talking to a news channel, the secretary foreign affairs further said that the United States should exert pressure on India to resolve all issues with Pakistan.

“Pakistan wants peace, progress and balance of power in the region,” Chaudhry was quoted as saying by Radio Pakistan.

The secretary said that Pakistan is eager to build better relations with regional and neighbouring countries including India.

Chaudhry said that Pakistan even went two steps forward to resolve all issues with India but regrettably New Delhi never reciprocated Pakistan’s good gesture.

Pak-US ties won’t be affected by Obama’s visit to India: Rana Tanveer

The defence production minister Rana Tanveer Hussain while talking to media in Sheikhupura expressed hope that Obama’s visit to India will not affect the United States relations with Pakistan in any way.

The minister said that no compromise will be made on national security, integrity and solidarity.

“Pakistan is playing front line role in the war against terrorism,” Tanveer said.

Rana Tanveer further said that Pakistan wants to resolve all issues including Kashmir with India through dialogue.
