ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan needs new airports and modern infrastructure to provide maximum facilities to the travelers.
In his address at the launching ceremony of the Civil Aviation Policy 2015 in Islamabad on Friday, the prime minister said that Karachi airport is presently meeting our requirements but there is need to expand Lahore airport.
The prime minister said that after expansion, Lahore airport will have a separate terminal for domestic passengers.
Sharif said that the government is striving hard to make Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) a modern airline and the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has been directed to provide necessary resources in this regard.
However, he added that the PIA will have to make a distinction between its bad and good people if it has to move forward.
Nawaz Sharif further said that the civil aviation industry plays an important role in economic growth but this sector remained neglected in the past and the present policy comes after 15 years.
Moreover, he said that the present government inherited numerous challenges including poor economy. However, the prudent policies pursued by the government have brought much improvement and economic indicators are getting better.
Similarly, he said that the government is focusing much on resolving the energy crisis.
The prime minister asked investors to start building their factories and there will be no energy problem by the time these factories are completed.
