ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: There will be no Pak-India Foreign Secretary level talks in Islamabad on Friday, the Foreign Office confirmed on Thursday, saying they are in contact with New Delhi to fix new date for talks.

The Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry and his Indian Counterpart S Jaishankar were scheduled to meet in Islamabad on January 15 as part of the comprehensive bilateral dialogue between Pakistan and India.

“As far as agenda is concerned, the Foreign Secretaries will work out the modalities and schedule of the meetings of various segments under the Dialogue, in accordance with the Joint Statement of 09 December 2015,” the Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah told media on December 31, 2015.

In his latest media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office Spokesman refused to confirm the arrest of Jaish-e-Muhammad Chief Maulana Masood Azhar, suspected of being involved in the Pathankot air base attack occurred on January 2, 2016 claiming lives of seven Indian security officials.

On Wednesday, Pakistani security institutions conducted operations in four various cities of Punjab and arrested several members of Jaish-e-Muhammad and sealed its offices. It was also reported that Maulana Masood Azhar and his brother Mufti Abdul Rauf Ashghar were also taken into protective custody for interrogation in connection with Pathankot air base attack.

The Pakistani authorities are carrying out the investigation into the Pathankot attack as per information provided by India. New Delhi claims that Jaish-e-Muhammad was involved in the attack and demanded Islamabad to take a prompt and decisive action in this regard.
