KARACHI, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has lauded the ongoing intelligence based operation in Karachi in support of operation Zarb-e-Azb and the National Action Plan.
The appreciation came when the prime minister visited Corps headquarters in Karachi on Monday and held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif.
The Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Rizwan Akhtar and the Corps Commander Karachi Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the prime minister and the COAS were briefed by corps commander Karachi on implementation of national action plan to eliminate terrorism from the country and the city’s security situation.
The prime minister was also apprised about action taken in the wake of the military operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister and the army chief separately arrived in Karachi to review the city’s security situation as well as the implementation of the national action plan against terrorism.
Upon his arrival, the COAS visited the Rangers Headquarters in Karachi where he was given a briefing by Sindh Rangers Director General Major Bilal Akbar over the ongoing operation and Karachi’s prevailing security situation.
The army chief appreciated the performance of Rangers, police and intelligence agencies during the operation. He also assured the security agencies of all possible support from the military to ensure peace in the city.
