ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed annoyance over massive load shedding being carried out across the country especially at ‘Iftar’ and ‘Sahr’ timings.
In a meeting with the prime minister in Islamabad on Saturday, the Secretary Water and Power Younus Dagha as per his directives submitted a preliminary report about the nationwide power outrage.
The prime minister was informed that there was an unprecedented surge in power demand on the first day of the month of Ramazan which necessitated forced load shedding for some time.
The secretary water and power said that the situation could only be brought under control if the demand decreases.
The prime minister directed that all steps must be taken on urgent basis to address the current load shedding situation in order to mitigate the sufferings of the people at the earliest.
Meanwhile, people took to the streets in various parts of the country and registered their strong protest against massive load shedding. They demanded the government to fulfil its promise regarding not to carrying out load shedding at ‘Iftar’, ‘Sahr’ and ‘Taraweeh’ timings.
Shameful & condemnatory how Govt is inflicting severe loadshedding on ppl across all provinces esp in Ramazan, including at Sehr & Iftar.
