HANGU: The alleged assassin of Farid Khan, newly elected member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, has been arrested amid tension and curfew in the city.

The funeral prayer for the eternal peace of the deceased will be offered today at 10am in Darwezi Palwasa. The city’s deputy commissioner announced that all educational institutions will remain closed today.

It is pertinent to note here that Farid Khan was elected as an independent candidate from PK-42, Hangu and later he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to reports, six unknown miscreants sprayed Farid Khan with bullets while he was riding a vehicle in Hangu, killing him on the spot and critically injuring his guard and driver.

The gory incident took place at Sanghair locality of Hangu. Following the killing, the city was overtaken by tension as people started pouring at hospital. In the meantime, infuriated rioters ran amok in different areas and resorted to aerial firing.

The city administration, in view of worsening situation, called the army and clamped curfew in Hangu. Meantime, police claimed to have arrested terrorist commander Mufti Hamid.
