PakistanKhawaja Asif rules out Governor rule in Sindh

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said there was no suggestion under consideration to impose governor rule in Sindh while the issue of ‘Rangers special powers’ would be addressed politically.

Talking to a news channel, the minister said, “We are political people and do not want confrontation.”

It was Pakistan Peoples Party’s right to raise objections, which would also be addressed politically, he added.

He said the operation in Karachi would be continued till achievements of all the set targets, including restoration of complete peace in the big city. Peace in the Karachi, he said, was in fact linked to peace in the country.

Replying to a question, the minister said terrorism and corruption were inter-linked and both the hazards should be treated similarly.

The law enforcement agencies, he said, were rendering sacrifices in the Karachi operation and its achievements could not be reversed.
