Imran creates doubts about the integrity of judges

Islamabad, Pakistan: Former prime minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, delivered a live address to the nation on May 30, 2023, and claimed that the judiciary is under pressure and judges receiving “phone calls from unidentified numbers” and they had been threatened with the exposure of their confidential files to the public if they did not comply with certain orders.

Khan’s statement might be an excellent political move but it creates doubts that the confidential files of the majority of judges have some data that are inappropriate and can compromise their reputation among the public. Now this is the duty of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to respond to the allegations of Imran Khan that the majority of judges do have not clean professional records and uncompromised confidential files.

Meanwhile, PTI circles when asked about this new twist in Khan’s public discourse said that Imran Khan’s latest address to the nation was a rejoinder to the recent address of Chief of Pakistan Army Gen Asim Munir to officers of Command & Staff College Quetta in which he highlighted that army had been mitigating conventional, sub-conventional and 5th Generation Warfare against Pakistan in a befitting manner.

PTI circles are of the view that Khan looks quite disturbed and believes that the COAS statement is an indicator that his arrest is not too far therefore he has decided to put moral pressure on the judiciary for the traditional help he has been receiving from the higher judiciary in his war against military and parliament. “Creating doubts about the credibility of judges suits Imran Khan because soon he would say that some judges were morally compromised due to their questionable official records therefore they refrain from standing with him after receiving threats of exposing their confidential files.

It is pertinent to mention that COAS in his address to officers in Quetta on May 29 sent a categorical message to those who were behind the May 9, 2023 vandalism against martyrs of the country. In his message, COAS said that those enemies who are behind the drive of targeting the unbreakable bond between the people of Pakistan and its Armed Forces will never be able to succeed.

COAS informed young officers that the nexus between the internal collusive elements and external forces to create instability had been exposed and the extraordinary response of the nation against those who attacked military-related symbols was a befitting reply to the nefarious designs of the enemy and their collaborators.
