ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that fighting terrorism requires a comprehensive approach and its root causes including the festering political disputes must be addressed.
The president made these remarks in a meeting with the Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Amin Madani who called on him in Islamabad.
The two sides discussed various issues of mutual interest and the regional security situation during the meeting.
During the meeting, the president expressed government’s resolve to strictly deal with terrorists. He said that hide out of the militants and their sanctuaries had already been destroyed.
The president said that our military and other law enforcement agencies are already undertaking operation Zarb-e-Azb in the country’s volatile northwestern tribal region and the terrorists are on the run.
Talking about the recent deadly terror attack in Peshawar that left more than 100 school children, the president said that the barbaric crime had further united the nation.
President Mamnoon reiterated that terrorists had no faith, no creed or nationality and they were threat to the whole world.
In addition, he said that the moratorium on execution in terrorism related cases had been lifted and judicial processes would be expedited.
On the occasion, the OIC secretary general expressed sympathy with the bereaved families and the people of Pakistan over Peshawar tragedy.
