PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Chehlum of the students massacred at the Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar in a terror attack last month is being observed on Tuesday.

On the occasion, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced public holiday today.
In a statement, the provincial information minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said that Quran khwani will be held for the departed souls in all the districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whereas the main function of Chehlum will be held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar in the afternoon.
The information minister said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will also attend the Chehlum at the provincial capital.
Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani further said that the provincial government has invited parents and close relatives of the deceased children to attend the Chehlum at the Chief Minister’s House.

On December 16, a deadly terror attack was carried out on the APS in Peshawar that left at least 150 persons mostly school children dead. The proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility for the barbaric attack.
