“Activists like Jibran Nasir are criminal people”

By Sajid Raheem

Pakistan is a unique country though all countries are unique in reference to their national philosophy and identity but uniqueness of Pakistan lies in its philosophy of “Being a victim of terrorism and mother and supporter of terrorists at a same time”.

Since last June, Pakistan is fighting against terrorism with full force— Arial and ground forces are in action performing the best in battle grounds and sacrificing their lives to save this country from terrorism.

The massacre of children in Army Public School in Peshawar where Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) killed over 130 children by shooting them like ducks and slaughtering them like goats compelled the  government to make National Anti-terrorism Plan (NAP) and there are news that over 10,000 terror suspects have been arrested in around 15,000 operations conducted across the country as part of the NAP. The operations were carried out across the country include 9413 in Punjab, 1577 in Sindh, 2724 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 39 in Balochistan, 336 in Islamabad, 720 in Azad Kashmir, 29 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 56 in the federally administrated tribal areas (FATA), according to the report on latest statistics on the NAP. The NAP report further said that 1934 arrests were made in Punjab, 1533 in Sindh, 460 in Balochistan, 6038 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 505 in Islamabad, 129 in FATA and 10 in Gilgit-Baltistan. It saidin report that 540 cases were registered against making hate speeches and 2035 arrests were made on misuse of loudspeaker. The report on NAP implementation said that over 3000 Afghan refugees have been repatriated since December 24 last year.

My readers feel relief to read above mentioned statistics and statement and rightly thinking that at last Pakistan has decided to fight back against terrorists. I myself can feel— super so Pakistan has at last decided to come out of slumber. No—these are mere statistics and nothing more.

Whatever I wrote above was just bureaucratic reports prepared to satisfy innocent people and our friends in Washington and Brussels. You can rightly say I am wrong to pass this comment and our intelligence agencies, our law enforcing agencies and our police are really working hard and conducted 10,000 actions against terrorists. Ok if it is so then I need to know what is the definition of a “terrorist” according to this NAP?

Are terrorists only those who are killing or planning to kill and attack people in uniform and their children? If NAP definition is same as I mentioned then –Yes– Pakistan is taking action against terrorists.

But who are those killing thousands of followers of non-salafi sects and accepting responsibilities after killing people like Mualana Naeemi of Jamia Naeemia Lahore who belonged to Bralvi school of thought, attacking Mualana Fazlur Rehman who belongs to Al Haidth school of Islam and bombing Shia mosques and Imambarahs?

What title we should give them who are sitting in Lal Masjid Islamabad and categorically hailing and supporting TTP?

Banned outfits and sectarian organizations are killing people almost every day and accepting responsibilities of killing and still free to march on roads and running their offices and police are not arresting them while activists like Mohammad Jibran Nasir, who has been leading protesters in Karachi and Islamabad against activities of the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) and Lal Masjid are being arrested and harassed by police. Moderate voices are snubbed while killings of Shikarpur bomb blast are free to chanting slogans on the roads of Karachi.

Jibran Nasir is a symbol of moderate civil society daring to stand against banned terrorists outfits and against radicals but such voices have no backing of politicians and establishment.

DIG South Zone Karachi Khalique Shaikh shamelessly told media that the Jibran was “picked up by the police” because he was acted “violently” and got into a scuffle with the police and threw away barricades placed by the authorities. DIG did not answer why Police were not arresting terrorists of banned organizations although they were free to roam around the city.

DIG also did not answer why the banned ASWJ organised a rally under police protection on Kashmir Day and why ASWJ leaders are being given police security?

ASWJ is publicly threatening members of the civil society through its Twitter account for dire consequences but police are shy to arrest ASWJ leadership because ASWJ has direct alleged contacts with Saudi Arabian establishment and the family of Prime Minister of Pakistan had been guests to Saudi King families for years in exile during Musharraf regime out of a deal among Pakistan—United States—Saudi Arabia.

The role of Saudi Arabia is becoming critical and open day by day in supporting sectarian terrorism all over the world. UN backed government in Libya allege that Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey (surprisingly all top close friends of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif) are directly involve to support ISIS terrorists in Libya.

European intelligence agencies have reported alleged involvement of Saudi Arabia in harbouring terrorism by funding salafis all over the world. Recently Professor Syed Badiuddin Soharwardy of Islamic Supreme Council of Canada appeared at the Canadian Senate National Defence committee hearing in Ottawa on (February 2, 2015) and he alleged that through its relationship with Saudi Arabia, Canada had allied itself with a “breeding ground” for terrorism. Syed Soharwardy told the Senate Committee on National Defence that Canada needs to recognize that terrorist groups currently preaching radical Islamist doctrine draw inspiration from a sect that is heavily funded by Saudi Arabia.

“Islam does not unite these terrorists,” Soharwardy said before singling out the Wahhabist and Salafist streams of thought as the real unifiers. “These people are funded, supported and trained by Saudi Arabia.”

The committee sought input from Imam Soharwardy and fellow Imam Sajid Delic on how to counter radicalization in Canada.

“Not all of them are terrorists,” he said, “but all these terrorists are (Wahabi or Salafis).”

Any attempt of Pakistan to clean the country from terrorists and terrorism is useless unless Pakistan takes a stiff action against sectarian outfits allegedly sponsored by Salafi regimes. Yes there is one more way to resolve the issue. Government of Pakistan should amend NAP rules or pass a bill stating “only Salafi sect of Islam can be followed in Pakistan and followers of other sects have two options—- either to leave Pakistan or to accept their massacre by banned Salafi organizations and such massacre/killing shall not be considered as murder/terrorism”. Government should amend NAP as soon as possible according to my suggestion giving above to legally curtail and ban protests of civil society against banned terrorist outfits. Once such amendment are made then people like Jibran Nasir will understand that they are stupid criminal people who defy the law of the land and they must be punished and “just picked up by the police”.
