Election tribunal disqualifies PML-N lawmaker Ashiq Bukhari over fake degree

BAHAWALPUR, Pakistan: An election tribunal in Bahawalpur on Monday disqualified the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker in the National Assembly Dewan Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari for possessing a fake degree.

Ashiq Bukhari was elected as member of the National Assembly from NA-153 Multan-VI on the PML-N ticket in the 2013 general elections.

However, later the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate challenged the election of Ashiq Bukhari in the tribal, saying the PML-N candidate had fake degree.

The election tribal today disqualified Ashiq Bukhari as member of the lower house of the parliament and ordered re-election in the constituency.
