PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Education Atif Khan said Thursday that Rs 43 billion would be spent on provision of basic facilities in government schools through Parents Teachers Council (PTC) in transparent manner to raise the standard of education in the province.

He said Provincial Government was striving hard to improve the condition of Government schools on priority basis and enhance its quality of education in line with the international standard.

He said this during meeting with Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Branch here.

Additional Secretary Education, Qaiser Alam, Director Education Rafique Khattak and authorities concerned of PRC attended.

The meeting discussed ways and means to enhancing the funds of PRC for welfare of the people and certain decisions were taken in this respect.

The minister said if PRC extended its activities in education sector, it would be beneficial for the next generation and would have long lasting impact on life of the common man.

He said KPK government have initiated scores of reforms in education sector and prepare a plan of Rs.43 billion for provision of basic facilities in government schools which would be spent through Patents Teachers Council in transparent manner.

He said the present government doubled the quota of establishment of girls schools and now the girls schools quota in new government schools is record 70%. Efforts are underway for promotion of IT in education and establishment of 840 IT Labs in government schools in first phase was a step towards this direction, he informed.
