EducationQAU increases tuition fee by 15 to 20 percent

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has raised its student tuition fee this year by 15 per cent for 22 departments and by 20 per cent for four departments.

This is the equivalent of 7.5 percent and 10 percent per year, since there was no increase in fees last year.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Wednesday, an offiial of the QAU said that tuition fees are lower than all other public universities.

Although it is a nominal routine increase in their fees, the Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Javed Ashraf has directed the Fees Structure Committee to review the matter, he informed.

It is pertinent to mention here that a large number of students of Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad were continuously staging protest against the fee hike in different disciplines of the institution.

The students from the different departments gathered at university premises and walked toward the Admin Block and chanted slogans against the fee hike.

They threatened to shut the university, if the decision of fee hike was not taken back.

Nasir Ali a student of socials sciences urged the VC of the university to revert the decision.

The students termed the decision of fee hike as unjust and said the protest would continue till the decision was taken back.
