ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has launched four teachers’ training programs in line with the policy of Higher Education Commission (HEC).

While reviewing the new programs being offered from the current semester (Spring 2017), Vice Chancellor AIOU Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui said that curriculum and teaching pattern is being revised to improve quality of these programs.

“We are trying to ensure that our qualified teachers should be the best ones in the market, “he added.

The admission of the programs will continue till March 6. The programs being offered are: M.Ed one year (specialization secondary teacher Education and elementary teacher education, BDd (1 and half year), eligibility MA/MSc/BS, B.Ed (two and half year) eligibility BA/BSc, and B.Ed elementary/secondary (four years) eligibility intermediate.

The HEC has recently converted one-year B.Ed program into four year on the basis of F.A. and FSc Education and the University has rescheduled it teaching program accordingly.

The AIOU had been leading University in the country that has been offering B.Ed. PTC AND CT since very beginning and their beneficiaries are in thousands all over the country, particularly the females.

M.Ed one year has been offered for specialization in elementary teacher education, science education, special education, secondary teachers education and distance & non-formal education.

The University has also launched one-year Associate degree in education for the in-service persons, in line with HEC’s road-map. Those who are having five-year teaching experience will be able to take the admission in it, with intermediate, plus PTC education.
