ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total of 44,684 students were enrolled as Members of the National Book Foundation’s (NBF) Readers Club during the last three years, the Senate was told.

In a written reply, the Minister for Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture Rana Tanveer Hussain told the House on Friday that 26,706 individuals were enrolled in the Year 2018-19, 10,634 in 2019-20, and 7,344 in 2022-21.

The House was apprised that only citizens of Pakistan can avail the membership of the Readers Club and expatriates are entirely precluded from becoming the members of the Readers Club.

It was further told that a member of the Readers Club was entitled to buy books of his choice at 50% discount subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs 6,000 during a financial year, from the bookshops on the panel of Readers Club.
