ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday announced to visit Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) soon, and said the federal government wanted tribal areas to bring at par with other federating units of the Country.

“Change in FATA is a must and status quo has to end,” the prime minister said in a meeting with a delegation of senators from FATA held at the PM’s Office in Islamabad.

The prime minister said bringing change in FATA was the government’s priority and expressed commitment for ensuring equal treatment of FATA residents in all social sectors.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the federal government had already taken the initiative and was prioritizing legal reforms along with constructive change in the affairs of FATA in consultation with all stakeholders.

Moreover, the prime minister stated that additional resources needed to be allocated for FATA for improving health, education, infrastructure and social sectors.

The FATA Senators included Hidayat Ullah, Haji Momin Khan Afridi, Aurangzeb Khan, Hilal ur Rehman, Sajjad Hussain Turi, Muhammad Saleh Shah, Taj Muhammad Afridi and Malik Najam ul Hassan.

The Senators congratulated Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on assuming his office. They mentioned that terrorism had adversely affected the rate of development and severely damaged infrastructure in their respective agencies.
