Billions of rupees granted for health sector in Punjab


LAHORE, Pakistan: Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique Saturday said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif granted billions of rupees for health sector, development, construction of new hospitals and provision of special allowances to doctors, nurses and other health staff.

While addressing a reception hosted by Punjab Paramedical Staff Association (Billa Group) at services hospital auditorium in Lahore, he said that mutual respect, tolerance and spirit of humanity were the basis of any civilized society which grows further on these fundamental principles.

He said that protest, strike and suppression stop the process of development and reforms.

He said that during last five, six years special attention had been paid on resolving the problems of medical community, provision of special pay package and service structure to them.

The association hosted this splendid reception in honour of the Minister and Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah on getting time scale promotion and service structure to grade-4 employees.

Salman said that issues often raise and resolved as well but we should uphold the respect of each other.

He revealed that no compromise would be made on security and protection of doctors and other staff in the hospitals.

He said that attendants of the patients should admire the services of doctors, nurses and other staff who always busy in taking care of their patients.

Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah thanked the office bearers of paramedics association and said that the association honoured him by organizing such a marvelous reception. He said that the doors of his office were equally open for the doctors, nurses as well as paramedics.

Secretary Health said that he always tried to resolve the issues in minimum span of time.

He disclosed that online system has been evolved for long leave of doctors upto six months through which earned leave, EOL were being sanctioned in 24 to 72 hours for which doctors have no need to visit the secretariat.

Najam Shah said that he would evolve a system for close coordination with the staff of teaching hospitals to understand and resolve the issues in time.

Yousaf Billa and other office bearers of paramedics association also addressed the occasion and thanked the Chief Minister, the Minister Health and the Secretary for granting service structure and time scale promotion for them.

Earlier, when the minister and secretary reached the services hospital, the paramedics showered flowers and brought them on “Baggi” to the auditorium.

Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences Professor Hamid Mahmood Butt, MS Dr Ameer Ali, Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Deputy Mayor Mian Tariq, President Paramedics Association Yousaf Billa, Arshad Butt, Rehmat Sindhu, Tanvir Bhatti and a large number of paramedics from different hospitals and YDA representatives including Dr Atif were also present in the function.
