PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) on Friday suspended the membership of Senator Azam Khan Hoti for violating party discipline.

The party had issued show-cause notice to the Senator last week for levelling allegations and using improper language against the party leadership. The ANP’s provincial organising committee chairman Bashir Khan Matta had issued the show-cause notice.

“Azam Khan Hoti violated party discipline as he expressed his views through media and didn’t opt for proper party forums,” the notice had stated.

It further had stated that the reply should be given within seven days after its issuance, adding that further action would be taken after the lapse of the stipulated period.

In a statement, Azam Hoti had demanded that the ANP central President Asfandyar Wali Khan should step down and stop taking part in party affairs. He had also blamed Asfandyar Wali for the worst electoral defeat of the party in the recent general election.
