PoliticsPTI demands removal of SSP investigation Lahore

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded the removal of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) investigation Lahore, alleging that he was influencing the upcoming by-election in NA-122.

In a letter written to the Inspector General (IG) Punjab, the PTI said that the SSP investigation Lahore Ayaz Saleem should be removed from his post as he is close relative of the Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and influencing the by-election in Lahore NA-122 constituency.

In another letter, the PTI sought the action of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the continued violation of code of conduct by the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ahead of October 11 by-elections.

The PTI argued that the election campaign had ended at midnight, but yet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif delivered a speech related to various development projects in Lahore on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister presided over a meeting in Lahore in which he was briefed about the development projects including Orange Line train and metro bus services launched by the present government.

Later talking to media, the prime minister said that the PML-N government has introduced a new trend of saving the national resources in mega development projects.

Sharif said that Bhikki Power Plant near Sheikhupura will be completed at a cost of Rs55 billion instead of earlier estimated Rs93 billion. He said that various power projects like Bhasha Dam and Dasu Dam will generate 9,000 mega watts of electricity after completion. He said that a coal power plant is also being setup at Sahiwal.

Later, the prime minister also visited various areas of Lahore to review the Orange Line project route, sewerage system and metro bus projects.

The by-elections in Lahore’s NA-122 and PP-147 constituencies will be held on Sunday at which tough completion is expected between the PTI and the PML candidates.
