KARACHI, Pakistan: The opposition parties have demanded the federal government to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss Yemen issue.

In a joint declaration read at the end of an opposition parties’ meeting held at Bilawal House in Karachi on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Yemen, the opposition called for a peaceful solution to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

The opposition demanded that political parties should be consulted before taking any decision on the issue.

The meeting was presided over by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman and former President Asif Ali Zardari, and was attended by leaders of the PPP, Awami National Party (ANP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Balochistan National Party- Awami (BNP-A).

The participants of the meeting expressed grave concern over the situation in Yemen and its implications for the region and also for Pakistan.
