Pakistan condemns Paris shooting attack

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Thursday condemned the brutal terrorist attack in Paris that resulted in the loss of many lives and left several others injured.

At least 12 persons including two policemen were killed while 10 wounded when two heavily armed men stormed the headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical weekly newspaper, in Paris on Wednesday.

In a statement issued in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said Pakistan deplores terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“We extend our condolences to the government and people of France on the loss of life,” the Foreign Office spokesperson said.

“We are confident that the international community will continue to stand firm against terrorism and bring the perpetrators of terrorist acts to justice,” the spokesperson added.

The French President Francois Hollande visited the area after his country witnessed the worst militant attack on its soil in recent decades and told reporters “This is a terrorist attack, there is no doubt about it.”

“An act of indescribable barbarity has just been committed today in Paris,” Hollande said.

Meanwhile, police launched a major operation across the country to hunt the attackers.

“Measures have been taken to find those responsible, they will be hunted for as long as it takes to catch them and bring them to justice,” the president said.
