Processions being taken to mark Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) today

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In order to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, the mourning processions are being taken out across the country on Saturday.

The day is observed annually with religious zeal and fervor to commemorate the matchless sacrifices at Karbala by Nawasa-e Rasool (SAW) and his companions, which they gave for the cause of Islam and to give eternal lease of life to the high values of humanity.

The mourning processions are being taken out and majalis are being held in all the main cities and towns to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala while strict security arrangements have been made to ensure security to the processions and the majalis.

The sources said that about 70 small and big processions will be taken out in Karachi while more than 290 majalis will be held all over the city.

The main procession of the day will be taken out from Nishtar Park that will culminate at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian Kharadar in the evening after passing through its traditional route.

Likewise, several majalis and tazia processions will also be held in different areas of Lahore.

The main march of tazia will start from Haveli Alf Din Hussaina Hall near Mochi Gate of walled city and will end at Karbala Gamay Shah in the evening. The march will pass through its traditional routes including Masjid Wazir Khan, Pani Wala Talab, Rang Mehal, Bazaar-e-Hakeeman, and Bhati Gate to finally reach at Gamay Shah.

The tazia processions and majalis will also be held in other areas of the city including Allama Iqbal Town, Model Town, Shahdara, Raiwind, Dharampura, Thokar Niaz Baig and Islampura where ‘Zakirs’ will highlight the sacrifice and Philosophy of martyrdom Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.

In Peshawar, the central procession of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain will be taken out from Imambargah Alamdar at Qissa Khwani.

The Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen spokesman Irshad Hussain Bangash said that the main procession will be joined by processions from different areas like Akhunabad which will then proceed through Chowk Shahbaz, Mohalla Marveeha and Kochi Bazaar, and end at Kocha Risaldar.

The prominent scholars including Allama Abid Hussain Shakri, Allama Sarwar Sarhadi and Allama Irshad Hussain will address the mourners on the occasion.
