PM Nawaz announces reduction of Rs 9.66 per litre in petrol price

ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced a further reduction of Rs 9.66 per litre in the price of petrol.

The premier made the announcement at a mammoth public meeting on the occasion of inauguration of Hazara Motorway in Havelian on Saturday.

Following the reduction, the new price of petrol would be Rs 84.53 per litre as against the existing price of Rs 94.19.

The price of Hi-octane has been reduced by Rs 10.18 per litre, Kerosene Rs 4.34 per litre, High Speed Diesel Rs 7.12 per litre and Light Speed Diesel Rs 5.39 per litre.

Now the new prices of Hi-Octane, High Speed Diesel and Light Speed Diesel would be Rs 106.27, Rs 94.9 and Rs 77.98 per litre respectively.

The prime minister directed the provincial chief ministers to ensure trickle-down effect of reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

Sharif said the reduction should be significantly reflected in transport fares and prices of food stuff and other items. He also expressed the confidence that the decision to reduce prices would help farmers as well.

The new prices will take effect from December 1 (Monday).

On October 31, the prime minister addressing a special meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad had also announced reduction in petrol prices by Rs 9.43 per litre in order to provide relief to public.
