Court orders to register case against Sheikh Rasheed

LAHORE: A district and sessions judge in Nankana Sahib on Monday ordered to register a case against Sheikh Rasheed for using provocative language in a public meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) earlier this month.

In a large public gathering held by the PTI in Nankana Sahib on November 12, Sheikh Rasheed while addressing had warned the federal government of ‘judo karate’ in case an attempt was made to restrict PTI’s rally scheduled on November 30 in Islamabad.

The petition was filed against Sheikh Rasheed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Youth Wing President of the area for using abusive language in his speech.

The police sources said the case will be registered at Nankana Sahib’s City Police Station after consultations between the Station House Officer and the District Police Officer (DPO) Nankana.

Meanwhile in a statement, Sheikh Rasheed who heads the Awami Muslim League (AML) said that if is arrested, he will happily go to ‘in laws’.

The AML leader said that such cases are routine, adding that he will consult his lawyers.

Sheikh Rasheed is currently in an alliance with the PTI which has been staging a sit-in in Islamabad since mid-August as well as holding public gatherings across the country in protest against alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections the government’s corruption.

The PTI led by cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan is also set to hold a massive rally on November 30 in the federal capital.
