World Teacher's Day to be observed on Sunday

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The World Teacher’s Day will be observed on Sunday under the theme “Invest in the Future, Invest Teachers”.

The day observed annually on October 5 worldwide, aims to mobilize support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers.

A conference to commemorate the World Teacher’s Day to be observed on Sunday was held in Islamabad on Thursday. The objective of the conference was to acknowledge the role of teachers in a society and highlight the endeavours and achievements of teachers on a national scale.

The Pakistan Education for All Review Report-2015 was also launched on the occasion.

In his address at the conference, the secretary for ministry of federal education and professional training Muhammad Ahsan Raja said that teachers are true builders of society and extreme respect for the teacher is necessary in every society.

The representatives of WFP, UNICEF and ILO emphasized the need for more joint efforts towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals, particularly in education.
