Afghan presidential candidates agree on unity government

KABUL, Afghanistan: An agreement has been reached between the Afghan presidential candidates Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani on the formation of national unity government, the media reports said on Saturday.

The reports said that both the candidates have resolved all the differences between the two camps to form a unity government while an agreement in this regard is expected to be signed by them in the presence of President Hamid Karzai on Saturday.

It comes after former jihadi leaders, heads of executive, legislative and judicial organs of the government along with influential leaders met with the two candidates on Friday to help resolve the election deadlock.

In the meantime, another informed source said the two candidates agreed to the text of the agreement which contains some provisions.
