International Literacy Day on September 8

ISLAMABAD: The International Literacy Day will be observed across the world including in Pakistan on September 8 to renew the pledge for initiating efforts to improve literacy rate.

On that day, various public and private organizations across Pakistan would arrange seminars, conferences, rallies and discussion programmes to highlight the need of ensuring every citizens’ access to the fundamental right of education.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has been celebrating International Literacy Day for over 40 years by reminding the international community that literacy is a human right and the foundation of all learning
