LAHORE, Pakistan: The federal minister for information Pervaiz Rasheed said on Saturday that the main ceremony of Independence Day on August 14 will be held at D-Chowk in Islamabad and all the political leaders including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will be invited to attend it.

Imran Khan has already announced to launch a million man long march on August 14 at the same venue where Independence Day celebrations are to be held if the government fails to accept within a month his demands relating to fairness of elections.

In a press conference in Lahore on Saturday, the information minister further said that all resources will be provided to the army to defeat the terrorists in the ongoing military operation in the North Waziristan tribal region.

The minister said that statutory cover has also been given to the armed forces to eradicate menace of terrorism. He said that those fanning misperceptions about the army are bound to fail in their designs.

In reply to a question, Rasheed that the case of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf is before the courts and they will decide his fate.
