NEC approves setting up six Cancer hospitals including in Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) was held in Islamabad on Thursday with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the chair, during which it approved construction of cancer hospitals in all the four provincial headquarters, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

During the meeting, the NEC approved funds for construction of dams and mega hydel power projects under the Public Sector Development Program.

The meeting also approved several projects including Diamer Bhasha, Neelum-Jhelum, Checho Ki Malian Power Project, Golen Gol Chitral Power Project and Karachi Coastal Power project. It also approved funds for Tarbela Dam Extension-IV project.

On the occasion, the prime minister directed that work on developmental projects in FATA should be expedited.

The prime minister said that the federal government will complete the project of provision of potable water in Gwadar. He also directed that initial report of generation of power through solar panels in Balochistan should be prepared.

The meeting was briefed about different developmental projects.
