The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the 2014 general election. Spanning over more than a month, the election will be held in nine phases. This marathon election begins on 7 April 2014 and ends on 12 May 2014. The counting will be done on 16 May 2014. 17 April 2014 will be the busiest day of the polls, as voters from as many as 122 constituencies will cast their vote. In order to minimise disturbance during the polls, all the Naxalism-affected states will be covered in a single day.
