SC rejects review petition of Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday dismissed a review petition filed by former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf against the judgment of July 31, 2009.

A 14-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani turned downed the review petition on the ground that it is time barred. The court also declared in the judgment that the petition does not fulfill criteria of merit therefore it is not maintainable.

Musharraf had filed review petition to withdraw the judgment of the apex court on July 31, 2009 in which the court held him responsible for the imposition of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.
