KARACHI: A powerful bomb targeted the police officer’s car in old Sabzimandi area of Karachi on Friday, killing at least three persons and injuring 16 others.

The initial reports suggested that the Station House Officer (SHO) Mauripur Shafique Tanoli was the apparent target of the armed attackers.

The blast took place in front of Tanoli’s house situated in old Sabzimandi area of Karachi.

The SHO Shafique Tanoli sustained injuries in the attack, while the blast also damaged his car completely and his house partially. Moreover, the blast also shattered nearby shops and wiped out some streetside vendors.

The dead and injured persons were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors said that some of the victims were in critical condition.
