LAHORE: Police carried out an operation in Punjab University with help of the university administration on Tuesday and arrested 15 illegal occupants.

A spokesman for the Punjab University said that police along with the university administration raided hostels no 15 and 18 in the wee hours of Tuesday morning and arrested 15 illegal occupants.

The university spokesman said that four illegal occupants were arrested from a room occupied by Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) nazim Azeem Khushi in Hostel No 18.

Police registered the First Information Report (FIR) against them for illegal occupation of public property, the spokesman said, adding that more such operation against the illegal occupants of the hostel rooms would continue.

Earlier on December 2, as many as 17 members of the IJT were arrested by police during a raid at the hostel no 16 of the Punjab University for their alleged involvement in violence against the university’s teachers.
