RAWALPINDI: The district administration Rawalpindi on Monday strongly refuted the rumours about imposition of curfew in the city as tension once again gripped some parts of the city and main shopping centers were closed.

In a statement‚ Commissioner Rawalpindi Khalid Masood Chaudhry urged the people not to pay heed to such rumours as situation is calm and under complete control. He said that no dead body has been recovered either from Madrassa Taleemul Quran or its surroundings.

On the other hand, army and law enforcement agencies personnel are patrolling the city to avert any untoward incident.

Earlier, the curfew that was imposed in Rawalpindi on November 15 was lifted early on Monday after which schools and offices opened. The city administration removed blockades from the city’s roads after the end of the curfew and people came out of their houses and began gathering around shops to buy foodstuff and other necessities.

Moreover, residents who were stuck outside the city also flocked in after the sealed entry and exit points of Rawalpindi were opened. All private schools in the city announced a holiday whereas government schools resumed their routine today.
