ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced squad for ODI and T20 series against South Africa, the flamboyant Shahid Afridi and former captain Shoaib Malik made their comeback, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Both all-rounders played in December last year in the drawn Twenty20 series against India but were ignored for the one-day series.

However, the selectors have turned back to the old pros after Pakistan’s batsmen struggled in the ongoing test series against the Proteas.

Pakistan trails 2-0 in the three-test series with the last test beginning at Centurion from Friday.    Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal, who missed out on the test team, also returns to give the struggling lineup some impetus.

Durban and Centurion will host the two Twenty20s on March 1 and 3 before the five-match ODI series begins at Bloemfontein on March 10.

Squad (Twenty20):

Mohammad Hafeez (captain), Nasir Jamshed, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz, Umar Akmal, Umar Gul, Ahmed Shahzad, Umar Amin, Zulfiqar Babar, Asad Ali, Junaid Khan.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
