KARACHI: Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said on Monday that the caretaker Prime Minister will be equally responsible for holding free and fair general election in the country as the Commission itself, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Talking to media persons, the CEC said holding of elections on time is essential to secure future of the country.

“There will be no future of the country if elections are not held on time, we have made mistakes in the past but now we are working 18 hours a day for free and fair election,” he said.

To a question about maintenance of law and order during the process of general election‚ he said it is the responsibility of the government not of the Election Commission.
