LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday sought support of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in the presidential election as federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar reached at JI headquarter in Mansoora to meet JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan.

The PML-N has fielded Mamnoon Hussain, former governor of Sindh, as its candidate in the presidential election, scheduled to be held on July 30.

JI Ameer Munawar Hassan told the media after the meeting that the PML-N has requested the JI to support their presidential candidate, however, the party will decide about it after consulting with the other members.

During the meeting, Karachi’s law and order situation was also discussed, he said. Hassan said that it is a serious matter and any hasty decision can worsen the situation.

Chaudhry Nisar said that Karachi’s issue cannot be solved in a single meeting, and that consultations will be held with other political parties as well.

JI leader Syed Kamal and Secretary General Liaquat Baloch also attended the meeting.
