- ECP extends nomination papers’ submission date till August 28
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The upcoming local government elections in Islamabad will now be held on October 09, 2024 as per the revised schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
In a statement on Tuesday, the ECP said that it has extended the date for submission of nomination papers for Islamabad local government elections till August 28, 2024.
The ECP said that it has been done to facilitate the participation of various political parties and candidates in the election process.
Earlier, the last date of submission of nomination papers for the Islamabad local bodies elections had been set for August 28, 2024.
However, now the Commission has also officially notified the revised election program.
Under the new schedule, the polling will now be held in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on October 09, 2024 instead of September 29.

The ICT has 125 Union Councils (UCs) based on a total of 1,000 Wards comprising 750 General Wards and 250 Women Wards. Each of these UCs comprises six General Wards and two Women Wards.
The delimitation exercise for Islamabad LG elections had started on June 1, and completed on July 23.
