BEIJING: A landslide caused by heavy rain took place in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Wednesday that left between 30 and 40 people buried, the state news agency Xinhua reported, citing local officials.

The landslide happed on Wednesday morning in Zhongxing Township, Dujiangyan City, according to sources with the fire brigade of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan.

Rescuers were at the scene.

Much of China has been hit by heavy rainfall in recent days.
