ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The total assets of 1,315 women contesting the upcoming general elections are more than Rs 20 billion, the investigative journalist Zahid Gishkori told on Hum News.

Zahid Gishkori told that about 220 women candidates participating in the February 8 general elections are owners of assets worth millions of rupees.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif – who once denied to own any properties in Pakistan or abroad – tops the list of 220 richest women candidates with assets worth Rs 850 million (85 crores).

Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Hina Rabbani Khar is second in the list of richest women with assets worth Rs 520 million (52 crores). She also owns inherited lands and runs a business.

Currently incarcerated leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Dr. Yasim Rashid is the third richest women with total assets of Rs 500 million (50 crores). She has properties worth millions of rupees and is also running her own business.

Similarly, the Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur owns assets of Rs 430 million (43 crores), standing fourth in the list of richest women candidates.

The total assets of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Zubaidah Jalal are around Rs 110 million (11 crores). Her husband has a mining business in Balochistan.
